Summary of Responsibilities:
The Benefits Assistant will serve as a key support role for existing benefits functions. The position is responsible for assisting with administration of employee benefits, providing guidance to employees, education and assistance on all company associated benefits.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in the administration of health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance and 401(k) retirement plans.
- Process monthly billings from insurance carriers including providing cost allocations and reconciliations to accounting
- Administer Leave of Absences (FMLA/Disability/Paid Family Leave) for all corporate entities as well as union buildings
- Respond to employee inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Support annual open enrollment to include setting up benefit plans, rates, employee communication and other relevant information into the company’s HRIS system
- Help maintain compliance with COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ACA, ERISA and other regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration
- SHRM-CP or PHR, or similar certifications are desirable
- High level of proficiency with Excel
- Knowledge of COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, and related federal and state regulations
