Job Description
A General Service and Lube Technician performs essential, routine vehicle maintenance and repairs. The technician's primary duties will include:
- Preventative Maintenance and Repairs: Perform engine oil and oil filter changes, and check/replace air filters, cabin filters, windshield wipers, lights, and perform basic automotive repairs.
- Fluid Services: Inspect, top off fluids, and replacing fluids to include: engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, and washer fluid.
- Tires: Rotate tires, check tire pressure, adjust tire pressure, and install new tires.
- Battery and Lights: Clean, test, and replace batteries when necessary. Install new lights when necessary.
- Inspections: Conduct multi-point inspections, identifying potential safety issues or necessary, additional repairs to communicate to customers.
- Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area, manage waste oil disposal, and keep shop inventory stocked.
- Customer Service: Advise customers on services performed, explain vehicle needs, and assist with customer service duties.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a lube technician or in an automotive shop is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge: Basic automotive understanding, including engine systems, fluid types, and tools.
- Skills: Strong communication skills. Ability to develop professional relationships with customers and team members. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while staying organized and maintaining attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, stoop and bend for prolonged periods. Exert 50 - 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 - 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or greater than 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Education
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Vocational or technical school training is considered a plus, but not required.
