Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Headstone Monument Installer to join our team. This role involves transporting headstones and memorials to cemeteries throughout California and safely installing them on-site. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically strong, and comfortable working outdoors in various conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery & Transportation
- Safely load, transport, and unload granite and bronze headstones using company vehicles and equipment
- Operate trucks, trailers, and lifting machinery (e.g., cranes, hoists, dollies) to move monuments securely
- Ensure monuments are delivered on time and in good condition to cemeteries and installation sites
- Complete delivery logs and maintain accurate records of transported materials
Monument Setting & Installation
- Install headstones and monuments according to cemetery regulations and customer specifications
- Prepare foundation sites, including measuring, leveling, and ensuring accurate placement of monuments
- Use hand tools, power tools, and setting equipment to properly anchor and secure monuments
- Inspect finished installations to ensure quality standards and long-term durability
- Communicate with cemetery staff to confirm placement requirements and approvals
Maintenance & Equipment Care
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on vehicles and equipment
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety issues, or site hazards
- Keep work areas, tools, and vehicles clean and organized
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years of experience in a monument company or closely related memorial/funeral industry role
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, and basic lifting equipment
- Physical ability to lift 75 pounds and perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic proficiency with technology, including texting, email, phone calls, and taking/uploading photos
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Must pass a background check and drug test prior to employment
- Flexibility for occasional overnight travel
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $26–$30/hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Overtime Opportunities: Additional pay available for overtime hours as needed
