CNC Maintenance & Production Technician (Manufacturing Technician & Production Lead)
Express Kitchens Inc. — 18 Main Street, Bristol, CT 06010
Full-time (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm) or Part-time (evenings, ~20 hrs/wk)
$28–$38/hour, based on experience [CONFIRM]
The job
Express Kitchens is seeking a hands-on CNC technician to own our robotic wood component line in Bristol: a CNC nesting router, edgebander, boring machine and robotic material handling that cut frameless cabinet and closet parts. You keep the machines running and you run the orders through them. Some days are wrenches and multimeters; most days are loading the schedule, watching the line, and getting parts out on time. You report to the Bristol plant supervisor and work with a small crew of three.
We are a 108-year-old Connecticut cabinet maker that moved manufacturing into a new 15-acre campus in downtown Bristol in 2025. This line is the first robotic cabinet plant in the state, and the person in this role is the one who makes it hum.
What you'll do
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults on the CNC router, edgebander, boring machine and robot; run the PM schedule so the line stays up
- Pull digital order files, load material and tooling parameters, run the line, and hit the daily schedule
- Tune feeds, speeds, tooling and the CAM-to-machine handoff to clear bottlenecks
- Inspect finished parts against the order for dimension, edge quality and squareness; flag and fix drift before it becomes scrap
- Watch raw panel stock and keep critical CNC spares (bits, belts, sensors, vacuum pods) on the shelf
- Follow LOTO and OSHA rules; keep dust collection running and the cell clean
What you need
- 2–3 years troubleshooting and repairing industrial CNC machinery
- Time on a wood component or automated fabrication line — you know how a panel becomes a finished part
- Comfortable in PLC-controlled automation and in CAM / production software
- Organized enough to juggle a repair and a deadline in the same shift
- Reliable: Mon–Fri full-time, or a fixed part-time evening schedule you'll keep
Nice to have
- SCM, Biesse, Homag or Stiles experience
- Robot cell experience (any make)
- Basic electrical panel and VFD work
Pay and benefits
- Full-time: medical, dental and life insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid training
- Part-time: hourly, fixed evening schedule, path to full-time as volume grows
