Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant for a 12-week temporary assignment. This position is responsible for overseeing multi-state payroll tax processing, preparing and reviewing tax returns, coordinating tax payments, and ensuring accurate and timely filings. The ideal candidate will have extensive payroll tax experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee multi-state payroll tax processing, tax return preparation, and payroll tax reporting.

• Prepare and review payroll tax returns for multiple states and jurisdictions.

• Manage tax amendments and ensure accurate, timely filings.

• Prepare tax filings for states requiring combined tax returns.

• Process payroll tax notices and resolve client tax-related issues.

• Communicate with clients, CPAs, and government agencies to resolve tax discrepancies.

• Coordinate tax payments, postings, and return tracking.

• Identify recurring tax issues and recommend process improvements.

• Manage billing for tax-related professional services, including amendments and year-end processing.

• Track deadlines, prioritize assignments, and support other accounting team members as needed.

Qualifications:

• Accounting degree and/or 5 years of multi-state payroll tax experience required.

• Strong knowledge of payroll tax preparation, reporting, amendments, and compliance.

• Experience working with multiple state and local tax jurisdictions.

• Proficiency with accounting software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.

• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet strict deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.

• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.
