Join a fast-moving shop in North Prairie, WI where turning complex 3D models into accurate, production-ready tooling is the daily rhythm. You’ll blend CAD/CAM savvy with hands-on machining to create fixtures, set up CNC equipment, and deliver parts that meet exacting standards.
Role snapshot- Compensation: $22.00 – $30.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
- Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Kick off your morning reviewing a 3D CAD model and mapping out the most efficient toolpath strategy. You’ll design and build the right fixture, set up the CNC, select tooling and offsets, and run the job with an eye for precision. Throughout the day, you’ll verify part accuracy with precision measurement tools, operate shop equipment and forklifts safely, and keep your area organized. Completed tooling is handed off to the Tooling Specialist for final benching and rigging, and you’ll jump in to assist the Tooling Specialist and Shop Assistant as needed to help the team hit deadlines.
What you’ll handle- Create robust CNC toolpaths directly from 3D CAD models
- Design, plan, and fabricate fixturing for accurate machining
- Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision tooling
- Choose tooling, set offsets, and tune machining parameters for performance and finish
- Inspect parts using precision metrology
- Meet production timelines while upholding high quality
- Safely operate CNC machines, shop equipment, and forklifts
- Coordinate handoff to the Tooling Specialist for final benching and rigging
- Pitch in with Tooling Specialist and Shop Assistant duties as needed
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area and follow all company policies
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; post‑secondary training in CNC Machining, Tool & Die, Tool Making, or related field preferred
- Hands-on CNC machining experience preferred
- Ability to read 3D models and machining data
- Proficiency in CNC setup and operation
- Working knowledge of CAD and toolpath/CAM software
- Computer literacy and comfort with manufacturing systems
- Detail orientation and a precision mindset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to take on broader shop responsibilities
- Ability to supply basic personal tools for machining tasks
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Stand, bend, and work in a shop environment for extended periods
