Mechanic

Express Employment Professionals is looking for an experienced mechanic for a local business

The Mechanic will be expected to inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles and machinery, ensuring safe operation through routine maintenance like oil changes, brake repairs, and engine diagnostics. You'll use computerized equipment to identify issues, replace worn parts, and provide cost estimates to customers.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Diagnostics: Using computerized diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
• Maintenance: Performing routine care, including oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and lubrication.
• Repair/Replacement: Repairing or replacing worn or dysfunctional parts, such as brake pads, transmissions, and engines.
• Testing: Test-driving vehicles and using testing equipment to ensure parts and systems function properly.
• Documentation: Maintaining accurate logs of services, repairs, and parts used.
• Customer Service: Explaining automotive problems and repairs to clients.
• Shop Safety: Keeping the workshop clean and adhering to safety procedures.

Required Skills

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive systems (engine, transmission, brakes, electronics).
• Diagnostic Skills: Ability to interpret diagnostic test results.
• Manual Dexterity: Proficient in using hand tools and power tools.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Communication Skills: Clearly explaining technical issues to customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a vocational program or apprenticeship preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Having your own tools a plus.
• Diesel experience a plus.

Starting at $20/hr but pay depends on experience.
