Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer with an extensive purchasing background and experience purchasing electronic components in a manufacturing environment.
This is a 3–4 month contract position for someone who can step in, evaluate and improve the current purchasing process, and help establish an efficient system for ongoing purchasing activities. The ideal candidate will be able to build upon existing processes or develop new procedures and train another employee on the purchasing process.
Responsibilities
- Purchase electronic components and materials based on production needs
- Manage purchase orders and follow up on deliveries
- Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers
- Monitor inventory and help prevent material shortages
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships
- Identify alternate suppliers when needed
- Resolve purchasing and invoice issues
- Expedite materials when production needs require
- Monitor supplier quality, pricing, and delivery performance
- Review and improve current purchasing processes
- Develop organized purchasing procedures and workflows
- Help establish a consistent purchasing system for the company
- Train another employee on purchasing procedures and processes
- Identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities
Requirements
- Extensive purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment
- 7–10 years of purchasing experience preferred
- Strong experience purchasing electronic components
- Experience with supplier sourcing and negotiation
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes and inventory needs
- Ability to evaluate existing processes and implement improvements
- Ability to create, document, and train others on purchasing procedures
- ECI M-1 ERP experience strongly preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
