Lead the Parts heartbeat behind every engine build Picture your morning: a CAT build is queued, a Detroit kit needs expediting, and a Cummins core just arrived. You open the ERP, review overnight variances, walk the aisles to spot-check bin integrity, and sync with the shop lead so every component lands at the machinist’s bench exactly when needed. By mid-day, you’ve negotiated pricing on a hard-to-find part, cleared a backorder, and coached the counter team through a complex parts lookup. Before close, you process a warranty credit, stage outbound shipments, and sign off on accurate margins.We’re hiring a Parts Department leader to run purchasing, inventory, and daily parts operations inside a heavy-duty engine machining facility supporting engine builds for CAT, Cummins, Detroit, and similar platforms. Your precision makes the difference between good and great. What you’ll own Inventory control: set min/max levels, perform cycle counts, and keep the warehouse organized and labeledProcurement: source components, negotiate with vendors, and expedite/resolve backordersTechnical support: assist machinists and customers with accurate, application-specific parts identificationProduction alignment: coordinate with shop leadership to match parts availability to build schedulesProfitability: manage margins, process core returns, and capture warranty creditsTeam leadership: supervise the parts counter plus shipping & receiving staff What you bring 5 years heavy-duty parts background (truck, construction, or ag)2 years in a supervisory or management capacityStrong knowledge of diesel & natural gas engine componentsHands-on with ERP/DMS platforms and OEM electronic parts catalogsForklift experience and ability to lift 50–75 lbs Why this isn’t a typical counter job These engines run under extreme loads.
