Entry-Level Utility Technician – Essential Services Provider
Location: Pensacola, FL
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $18/hr
A local water company here in Pensacola is looking for a candidate for a Utility Technician position to add to their team! This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the utilities industry with plenty of room for growth. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and being part of a team that keeps the community running, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair:
- Locate and repair leaks in water and sewer lines.
- Replace damaged utility components like valves, fittings, and meters.
- Clean and maintain utility infrastructure, including fire hydrants and lift stations.
- Perform routine inspections of utility lines and equipment.
- Assist with the installation of new utility lines and service connections.
- Dig trenches and backfill excavations safely and efficiently.
- Install and connect new water meters.
Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergency calls for utility disruptions, including leaks or outages.
- Isolate leaks and take quick action to minimize damage.
Additional Duties:
- Read and record water meter data accurately.
- Perform landscaping and maintenance on city properties.
- Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Requirements:
- Comfortable working long shifts outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- MUST HAVE a high school diploma or GED.
- MUST HAVE a Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and your own transportation.
- MUST be able to pass a Level 2 Background Check.
- Must comply with the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
- Medical marijuana cards are not accepted; all employees must pass required drug screenings.
