Laser Operator - 2nd Shift

Essential Responsibilities

• Set up and operate tube and sheet laser cutting machines.
• Review work orders, blueprints, drawings, and production specifications.
• Select proper materials, tooling, consumables, and machine settings for each job.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
• Adjust machine parameters including gas flow, focal length, feed rates, and cutting settings.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections.
• Measure parts using calipers, tape measures, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain production standards.
• Remove scrap materials and maintain a clean work area.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials safely.
• Complete production logs, inventory documentation, and work order paperwork.
• Label, organize, and stage finished products for additional processing or shipment.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and quality procedures.
• Assist with other production duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one (3) years of laser cutting, machine operation, or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills for machine operation and production tracking.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and material handling.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance or lifting equipment when necessary.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and moving machinery.
• Must wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, and steel-toed boots.
