Technical Support Specialist

Location: Greensboro, NC

Pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience

Position Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide phone, chat, and email support for customers with generator-related questions and technical issues. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.

Direct generator experience is a plus but is not required. Candidates with experience in mechanical, electrical, automotive, HVAC, small engines, equipment repair, or other troubleshooting-related fields are encouraged to apply.

• Provide technical support to customers through phone, chat, and email

• Troubleshoot generator-related mechanical and electrical issues

• Ask appropriate diagnostic questions to determine the source of a problem

• Walk customers through troubleshooting steps and possible solutions

• Respond to customer questions and technical concerns through email in a clear and professional manner

• Explain technical information in a clear and easy-to-understand way

• Navigate multiple computer screens and systems while assisting customers

• Document customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions accurately

• Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers

• Learn generator products, components, and common technical issues

• Work toward resolving customer concerns during the initial contact whenever possible

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to understand basic mechanical and electrical concepts

• Previous technical support, mechanical, electrical, automotive, HVAC, small-engine, equipment repair, or similar experience preferred

• Customer service or call center experience is a plus

• Strong computer skills and ability to navigate multiple screens and systems

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to communicate professionally through phone, chat, and email

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

• Ability to learn new products and technical information quickly

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Mechanical or electrical training or education is a plus

We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined and naturally good at troubleshooting. You should be comfortable asking questions, identifying possible causes of equipment problems, and walking customers through solutions by phone, chat, and email.

You do not have to be a generator expert, but you should have a good understanding of how mechanical equipment works and be willing and able to learn generator systems.
