Certified Traffic Control Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Traffic Control Supervisor to lead and oversee traffic management operations on Major highway Construction Zones. In this vital role, you will coordinate traffic control plans, supervise traffic control personnel, and ensure safety protocols are strictly followed to facilitate smooth and safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians around active work zones. Your expertise will help maintain compliance with federal and state regulations while supporting efficient project progress. This position provides an opportunity to support critical work on major highways, helping to enhance transportation infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. Please note that all new hires are required to pass a background check and drug screening.

Duties

• Supervise traffic control crews, ensuring proper setup of signage, barriers, cones, and flagging devices according to approved traffic management plans.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and local authorities to implement effective traffic control strategies that minimize disruptions and enhance safety.
• Conduct regular inspections of traffic control zones to verify adherence to safety standards, FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, and company policies.
• Train and mentor team members on proper use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as skid steers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trailers.
• Oversee the operation of heavy machinery including Caterpillar equipment while maintaining strict safety protocols during roadway construction and highway maintenance activities.
• Document daily activities through detailed reports on site conditions, incidents, equipment usage, and safety compliance.

Skills

• MUST have a minimal 5 years of experience as a Traffic Control Supervisor!
• MUST have a current Certified Worksite Traffic Control Supervisor certificate and Flagger Certificate from a GDOT approved company, such as NSC (National Safety Council) or ATTSA (American Traffic Safety Services Association). You MUST provide PROOF prior to scheduling an interview!
• MUST be able to reverse a truck hauling a 16-foot trailer!
• Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as skid steers and excavators (including front loaders), backhoes, graders, dump trailers, and haul different trailers.
• Strong knowledge of traffic control for work zones along with familiarity with FMCSA regulations governing transportation safety standards.
• Mechanical knowledge related to construction equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manual handling devices essential for roadway construction projects.
• Extensive construction site experience with a focus on highway and road construction maintenance.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high safety standards; physically capable of heavy lifting and manual labor.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and external agencies; adept at enforcing safety protocols effectively.

Shifts will depend on the scheduled job. Can be M-F, Weekends only, etc. Hours also very per job - days only, nights only, etc. Applicant must be flexible. We never travel outside the state of GA. If the job is more than 2 hours away from Suwanee, GA, then the company pays for a hotel for employees (2 people to a room) and there is a per diem of $40 per day.

Reliable Transportation: All applicants MUST have reliable transportation to and from yard in Suwanee, GA. All supervisors will drive a company vehicle to jobsite and back to yard at end of shift.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
