SUMMARY: The Pole Hyster Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a pole hyster to transport, load, and unload carpet and turf rolls. This role supports the shipping department by ensuring products are moved and staged correctly for shipment while following all safety regulations and company procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Operate a pole hyster to transport carpet and artificial turf rolls to designated storage or loading areas.
- Load and unload materials from trailers and railcars, ensuring loads are balanced and secured.
- Follow shipping schedules and load lists to stage products for outbound shipments.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records of moved materials.
- Inspect forklifts and attachments before and after use; report any mechanical issues to maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Communicate with the shipping team to coordinate product movement and resolve any issues or delays.
- Adhere to company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and standard operating procedures.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a pole hyster or similar heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with inventory tracking and staging processes.
- Knowledge of warehouse and shipping operations.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one).
REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in outdoor and warehouse settings with exposure to heat, cold, rain, and industrial conditions.
- Must be able to operate heavy equipment around other workers, vehicles, and materials.
- Flexible to work as needed to support shipping schedules and deadlines.
