EXPLORE Pediatric Therapy specializes in nature-based occupational therapy services designed to help children grow, thrive, and achieve true transformation. Our unique approach focuses on a holistic, family-centered model where we partner with caregivers to create lasting change for their children. We're looking for candidates to fill our open positions as we seek a Group Assistant for Fall 2026 (September 2026-June 2027 season).
We are mission driven, working on building our impact and awareness throughout the South Shore. Group Assistants are vital to the success of our programs and in supporting the children we serve.
The ideal Group Assistant applicant will be skilled in supporting the lead OT, can anticipate needs of the therapist and children, as well as have a team player mentality. You will be working between both OT and Forest Adventure Group programs. You'll be part of a community that values independence, creativity, and the power of nature in healing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Therapist or Adventure Group Leader in preparing, setting up, and facilitating pediatric group interventions designed to address fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, self-care, and social participation skills.
- Support children in actively engaging in therapeutic play and structured activities by providing appropriate cues, modeling, and adaptations.
- Encourage positive peer interactions, turn-taking, and cooperative play within the group setting.
- Observe children’s performance skills, behaviors, and responses to interventions to share with the team.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment by anticipating and responding to children’s physical and emotional needs.
- Organize and maintain equipment, toys, and supplies, ensuring they are clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate.
- Collaborate with the team to individualize supports and strategies that promote success in group activities.
- Present with a warm, inviting presence to families and children.
- Maintain professional conduct and communication at all times. This includes dressing to impress, appropriate language and conversation, and not discussing any polarizing topics with children
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, College Degree or pursuing an advanced degree in the field of occupational therapy (or a related major)
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children in a therapeutic, educational, or recreational setting required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with children, families, and staff.
- Ability to support children with varied developmental, sensory, and behavioral needs.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Do you love working with kids and helping them grow, learn, and shine? We’re looking for a caring, energetic Pediatric Group Assistant to support our forest adventure group team. In this role, you’ll help children build skills through play-based group activities, while creating a positive, supportive environment where every child can succeed.
What You’ll Do:
- Help set up and run fun, skill-building group activities designed by our pediatric occupational therapists.
- Engage kids in play, social interaction, and daily living skills while offering gentle guidance and encouragement.
- Support children with a wide range of abilities by adapting activities and providing individualized assistance.
- Foster positive peer relationships through turn-taking, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Keep our group spaces safe, welcoming, and well-organized for all participants.
- Share observations with the team to help track each child’s progress.

- Availability: Must be available to commit to the role throughout the school calendar year.
- Pay Rate: $20-$30/hour, negotiable based on experience
