Mechanical Design Engineer (Medical Devices)Location: Shelton, CT (Onsite)
Duration: 6-12 Month ContractOur client, a growing product development engineering firm specializing in medical device design and development, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role will focus on the design and development of complex handheld medical devices and assemblies, with a strong emphasis on plastic component design and manufacturability.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys taking products from concept through development while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex handheld medical devices and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Create and modify 3D models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Design plastic and metal components for medical device applications.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development process.
- Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluations, and design iterations.
- Support product development activities from concept through design refinement.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of mechanical design engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Experience designing small medical devices and related components, including plastics, metals, and precision assemblies.
- Hands-on product design experience with the ability to independently create and develop designs.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Experience working with complex assemblies and electromechanical products is highly preferred.
- Self-starter with a high energy level and strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Handheld medical devices.
- Injection molded plastic part design.
- Prototype development and testing.
- Medical device product development environment.
