Position: Academic Interventionist

Department: K-4 or 5-8

Supervisor: Coordinator or Academic Supports and Intervention

Position

In accordance with the Explore! Community School mission and values, the academic interventionist is responsible for providing inspiring, joyful, data-driven instruction that leads students to increased proficiency during small group intervention and core academic classes. The academic interventionist will work with the Coordinator of Academic Supports and Intervention to ensure all school, district and state compliance deadlines are met (including ILP-D). S/he will also collaborate closely with teachers and intervention providers on instructional strategies or resources to meet individual skill deficits or student needs. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, strong behavior management experience, excellent student engagement strategies, and be proficient with collecting and using student academic data to drive performance. Responsibilities

  • Create a positive, supportive classroom culture that promotes joy, self-discipline and Explore!’s core values
  • Plan and implement creative, organized, and engaging lessons based on individual student needs or skill deficits identified by NWEA MAP, Aims Web or other data sources
  • Internalize and deliver research-based curriculum and strategies to ensure students’ increased proficiency on the NWEA MAP assessment, as well as gains in core academic classes
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Academic Supports and Intervention to develop intervention schedules for students
  • Work with General Education teachers to ensure high levels of instruction, including co-teaching models for instruction
  • Analyze assessment data and use it to inform instructional next steps
  • Maintain close relationships with families, including phone calls, conferences, and progress reports
  • Support and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure school-wide success
  • Provide a loving, exciting, joyful learning environment
  • Other school related duties as assigned (i.e. supporting arrival, dismissal, lunch or recess, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Commitment to Explore Community School’s mission, values, educational model, and celebration of the strengths of diversity
  • Highly effective communication and collaboration skills with all stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and time management skills
  • Experience in teaching elementary or middle school students, including strong data trends that show high levels of growth and achievement
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team with a commitment to his/her own learning
  • Experience bringing a scripted curriculum “to life” using additional resources or manipulatives
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Holds or is eligible to secure a valid TN State teacher certification
  • Additional skills that enhance students’ academic experience (e.g. multi-lingual, musician, etc.) highly sought

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package including healthcare, retirement, paid holidays, and generous paid time off. Compensation for actively licensed Tennessee educators is 5% above the MNPS 10-month salary schedule (201 days) for years of certified experience and degrees earned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
