The Facilities Manager is a proactive and hands-on leader responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of Exploration’s two-building campus. This leader will supervise and collaborate with the Safety & Security Coordinator, aligning facilities management and campus safety into one cohesive, high-performing system. The Facilities Manager sets priorities, manages vendors, oversees projects, and drives accountability to ensure Exploration operates smoothly and safely every single day.
Evening and weekend work may be required for emergencies or school events.
Requirements
Proven, hands-on experience maintaining or managing facilities (school or commercial environment preferred)
Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, and building codes
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
Strong ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple priorities under pressure
Effective communicator who can collaborate across departments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic tech systems for recordkeeping and communication
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and work in varied conditions

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
Provide direct supervision, coaching, and accountability for the Safety & Security Coordinator
Lead with visibility—working alongside team members while setting clear priorities and performance expectations
Collaborate with the Director of Operations on strategic planning for facility upgrades, safety initiatives, and compliance audits
Create and maintain a facilities management plan that ensures proactive upkeep and risk prevention
Communicate effectively with school leadership to align facilities work with instructional and operational needs
Facilities Management
Inspect, maintain, and repair facilities to meet safety, health, and code requirements
Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance for systems and equipment
Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including bid solicitation and project oversight
Track and manage maintenance records, inspections, and compliance documentation
Support event logistics and campus setup for school and community events
Respond promptly to emergency repairs and urgent building issues, including after-hours coverage
Safety & Security Partnership
Oversee the execution of school-wide safety drills, emergency plans, and security protocols
Collaborate with the Safety & Security Coordinator to identify and mitigate risks across campus
Review incident reports, follow up on corrective actions, and ensure compliance with all local and state regulations
Foster a strong safety culture that emphasizes prevention, readiness, and care for the school community
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and ladder use
Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
Flexibility for off-hours, evenings, and weekend work as needed
