Trissential is hiring a Database Administrator II to join our client’s team supporting mission‑critical Operational Technology environments, including SCADA and nuclear systems. This is a high‑impact role where your database expertise directly supports energy reliability, safety, and long‑term infrastructure projects. Your Role & Responsibilities
- Administer and support Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB databases across production and non‑production environments
- Perform database builds, patching, upgrades, and configuration activities
- Execute backup, recovery, and business continuity strategies to ensure system resilience
- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for high‑availability environments
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using KornShell (Unix/Linux) and PowerShell (Windows)
- Monitor systems, respond to alerts, and resolve incidents through ServiceNow
- Participate in an on‑call rotation (every 4 weeks, 7‑day coverage)
- Collaborate closely with application teams, system administrators, and project stakeholders
- Support ongoing initiatives such as ADMS upgrades and capital infrastructure projects
Skills & Experience You Should Possess
- Hands‑on DBA experience with Oracle and SQL Server
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MariaDB
- Strong experience with backup/recovery, performance tuning, and patching
- Scripting experience with KornShell and PowerShell
- Familiarity with ServiceNow for ticket and request management
- Ability to communicate clearly across technical and non‑technical teams
- Experience working in regulated or operational environments
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience in utility, energy, or SCADA environments
- Knowledge of Oracle ASM, RAC, or Data Guard
- SQL Server AlwaysOn, clustering, replication, or log shipping
- Experience with major database version upgrades
- Exposure to automation and monitoring tools
Education & Certifications You Need

Bachelor’s degree in technology, Science, Business, or related field
OR equivalent professional experience (typically 8 years) - Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle certifications (OCP/OCA) preferred
