This role will operate as an embedded consultant, partnering with manufacturing leadership to assess current production processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement practical solutions that enhance quality and process stability.

Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Assessment
- Perform Gemba walks and shop floor evaluations to assess manufacturing flow, process stability, and quality risks.
- Analyze production processes including welding, brazing, cleaning, heat treatment, and leak testing operations.
- Identify process inefficiencies, defect drivers, and variability sources within the manufacturing line.
- Evaluate supplier component quality (e.g., tubes, aluminum components) and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations using structured methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
- Identify and implement low‑hanging‑fruit improvements to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
- Develop process control strategies and support implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Improve inspection processes and quality documentation.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve production flow and reduce waste.
- Identify opportunities to improve:
- Cycle time
- Process consistency
- Material flow
- Defect rates
- Support implementation of standard work, process documentation, and visual management.
- Partner with manufacturing engineering, operations leadership, and quality teams to drive improvements.
- Work directly with shop floor personnel to ensure solutions are practical, sustainable, and adopted by operators.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing quality or supplier quality engineering
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or high‑reliability manufacturing environments
- Strong background in metal manufacturing processes, including:
- Welding
- Brazing
- Machining
- Metal fabrication
- Hands‑on experience conducting Gemba walks and manufacturing process evaluations
- Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and inspection processes
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Experience with heat exchangers, pressure vessels, or thermal systems manufacturing
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100) or automotive standards (IATF 16949)
- Experience implementing SPC or manufacturing data monitoring
- Experience improving braze, weld, or leak test processes
