Job Overview
As our Construction Bookkeeper, you will manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company. You won’t just be crunching numbers; you will be a vital link between our project managers, vendors, and leadership team. The ideal candidate has strong experience with job costing, progress billing, and specialized construction accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Costing & Tracking: Allocate expenses, labor, and materials to specific projects to ensure accurate profitability reporting.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Prepare and send progress billings (including AIA billing if applicable), track aging accounts, and follow up on collections.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank, credit card, and vendor account reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, WIP (Work in Progress) reports, and sales tax filings.
- Compliance: Maintain up-to-date certificates of insurance (COI) for subcontractors and assist with annual workers' comp audits.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1 years of bookkeeping experience strictly within the construction or contracting industry.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Sage 100 Contractor, or similar construction accounting platforms. Strong MS Excel skills are a must.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction-specific financial concepts (Job Costing, WIP, Progress Billing, Retainage, and Lien Waivers).
- Attributes: High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with field foremen, project managers, and external CPA partners.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred (equivalent field experience highly valued).
