Director of Industrial Engineering – Injection Molding
Alabama, USA | On-site | Tier 1 Automotive
Our client is a Tier 1 supplier to the major OEMs. Their Alabama plant is a large, high-volume injection molding site. They need a senior engineering leader to own how the plant runs and how new work gets launched.
You'll report to the General Manager, with a dotted line to the Global VP Industrial Engineering.
You'll lead a team of industrial, process, molding and launch engineers.
What you'll do:
- Lead industrial engineering across the whole plant: layout, flow, capacity, line balancing and labor standards
- Be the plant's senior authority on injection molding: scientific molding, process control, press strategy, tooling and automation
- Drive OEE, scrap, cycle time and cost-per-part improvement
- Lead new line setup and program launches from award through SOP, including equipment, capex, APQP, PPAP and run-at-rate
- Get new programs to target performance fast after launch
- Run lean and continuous improvement across the site
- Build and develop a strong engineering team
What you'll bring:
- Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Plastics Engineering
- 10 years in manufacturing engineering, including 5 years leading teams
- Deep, hands-on injection molding experience in a high-volume plant
- A track record of automotive program launches and new line setups
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP and PFMEA
- Proven results on OEE, scrap and cost reduction
- Able to work on site in Alabama and travel up to 20%
Nice to have:
- Six Sigma Belt
- Experience with multi-shot, overmolding or molding automation
Salary : $180,000 - $200,000
