- Provide occupational therapy-based services to assigned caseload consistent with students' documented therapy goals, including those defined in areas of instructional and therapeutic focus and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Develop and implement safe and appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Provide assessment, mandate recommendations, and intervention in related school-based areas of occupation (participation in academics, play/leisure, vocational, and self-care skills) and appropriately document or update annual therapy goals for students, as needed.
- Evaluate, document, and monitor provision of service and student progress in a timely manner in line with policies of organization, governing bodies and in language comprehensible to caregivers.
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with parents, school staff across all disciplines, and medical professionals regarding health, equipment use, participation in activities, positioning, feeding, and other relevant factors, as needed.
- Fabricate, maintain, modify and monitor use of adaptive equipment and orthotics and train school staff regarding interventions involving assistive technology (AT) or other equipment.
- Assist with assessments related to assistive technology (AT) and/or durable medical equipment (DME) needs, including participation in clinics, documenting medical necessity, obtaining measurements, working with providers, facilitating orders, coordinating with vendors for delivery, fittings, etc. as needed.
- Attend and participate in scheduled supervision, department meetings, and activities.
- Be responsible for maintaining office and therapy room organization.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Valid license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist issued by the NYS Department of Education (NYSED).
- Must be well organized with superior attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Work with a great degree of self-direction and focus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Word and PowerPoint.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in occupational therapy working with school-aged children with significant disabilities (preferred).
