Position Title:

Call Center Agent – Education and Compliance
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Remote after initial onsite orientation)
Agency: Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR)

Position Overview:

The Arizona Department of Revenue is seeking Call Center Agents to join the Education and Compliance Division. This role involves professionally and courteously assisting customers by handling inbound calls related to individual and business tax compliance, delinquency, and general inquiries. Candidates should have a strong customer service mindset and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer inbound calls in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resolve Tier 1 level issues and review taxpayer accounts.
  • Verify, gather, and update key information in multiple systems.
  • Educate taxpayers on online resources and current tax policies.
  • Submit requests for payment arrangements.
  • Document actions taken accurately.
  • Participate in team engagement activities and meet performance expectations.
Required Skills:

  • Strong multitasking ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Organized and goal-oriented.
Preferred Skills:

  • Spanish-speaking proficiency.
  • Experience in process improvement activities.
  • Background in banking or finance.
Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year recent experience in a fast-paced call center.
  • Previous two positions should each be at least one consecutive year in similar environments.
  • Experience in national call centers within industries such as finance, banking, insurance, or telecommunications (not technical support).
Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate degree or higher.
Additional Information:

  • Start Date: February 9, 2026
  • Duration: 6 months (with potential extension or permanent employment).
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible within operating hours 7:45 AM – 5:15 PM).
  • Training: 3 weeks, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (attendance is critical).
  • Location: Fully remote after initial onsite orientation at 1600 W. Monroe St., Phoenix, AZ.
  • Candidates must reside within 1 hour of Phoenix or Tucson.
  • Hardwired internet access required; ability to transport equipment from office to home.
  • Pre-employment checks: State and federal criminal background, fingerprinting, and Arizona tax filing records check for the past 5 years.
