SUMMARY
The Assistant Camp Director is responsible for assisting the Camp Director in providing safe delivery of the camp program.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Camp Director with supervising and evaluating all camp programs and staff.
- Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff training.
- Assist with opening and closing day procedures for staff and campers.
- Assign staff activities and other responsibilities.
- Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff.
- Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and wellbeing among the camp family.
- Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 seasons of camp leadership (i.e., unit leader, head counselor) or teaching experience
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Current CPR and first aid certifications
- Pass a rigorous personal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical camp or classroom environment. Possibility of extended hours, which may encompass early mornings and late evenings, exceeding 40 hours per week. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Preparation for AirVenture or other events may require lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and push and pull motions.
