Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate General Counsel to join our legal team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive legal support across various practice areas, including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, and more. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in litigation and legal research, along with excellent negotiation and writing skills. As an integral part of our organization, you will work collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while protecting the interests of the company.
Duties
- Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to estate planning, environmental law, landlord-tenant law, family law, and workers' compensation law.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft and review legal documents, contracts, and agreements to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Represent the organization in litigation matters, including personal injury cases and patent disputes.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of the organization to mitigate risks.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization’s operations.
- Collaborate with external counsel as necessary for specialized legal matters, particularly in tribal law & regulations and securities law.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures that align with legal requirements while supporting business objectives.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in a law office setting with a focus on multiple areas of law including litigation, immigration law, environmental law, and others listed above.
- Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve disputes effectively.
- Excellent writing skills with experience in legal drafting and documentation.
- Familiarity with legal research methodologies and tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
