Role- AIX support Engineer
Location-Hartford, CT
Duration- Long term contract
- Key Responsibilities - AIX Administrator (Level 2) Administer and support AIX 7.1/7.2 on IBM Power systems, including system configuration, filesystem management, user administration, and OS hardening.Own L2 incident management, performing advanced troubleshooting for OS, filesystem, boot, SAN related, and application impacting issues; conduct root cause analysis and resolution.Execute AIX patching and maintenance using NIM, including TL/SP updates, OS upgrades, pre checks, execution, and post implementation validation.Administer VIOS environments, including vSCSI/NPIV configuration, SEA networking, backups (mksysb), recovery, upgrades, and connectivity troubleshooting.Manage and support PowerHA (HACMP) clusters, including health checks, failover/fallback activities, DR drills, and cluster issue resolution.Perform change management activities, including preparation and execution of standard and emergency changes, risk assessment, rollback planning, and release support.Support storage and filesystem operations, including SAN attached disks, multipathing, GPFS basic administration, and coordination with storage teams.Participate in infrastructure initiatives such as SAN migrations, firmware upgrades, DC/DR activities, audits (PCI/SOX), and platform remediation tasks.Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and environment details; provide knowledge transfer and guidance to L1 teams.Collaborate with application, network, storage, and L3/SME teams to ensure platform stability and meet SLA commitments.Provide on call and weekend support as required for production systems and critical changes.
