Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Travel RN House Supervisor to oversee hospital operations and ensure high-quality patient care during assigned shifts. This role requires strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to manage staff, coordinate patient flow, and address any emergent situations in the facility. The Travel RN House Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for clinical and administrative decisions outside of regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support nursing staff across multiple departments, ensuring efficient patient care and adherence to policies.
- Act as the on-site leadership representative, addressing any operational, staffing, or patient care concerns.
- Oversee patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to maintain proper bed utilization.
- Collaborate with physicians, department managers, and healthcare teams to resolve clinical or administrative challenges.
- Provide rapid response and decision-making during emergencies, staffing shortages, or critical incidents.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for nurses, offering guidance and support in complex situations.
- Complete shift reports and communicate key issues to hospital leadership.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Active RN license (multi-state or specific state of assignment).
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably as a house supervisor, charge nurse, or nurse manager.
- BSN preferred but not required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS or additional specialty certifications may be preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in staffing coordination, emergency response, and patient flow management.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new hospital settings and travel assignments.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Typically works night or weekend shifts, overseeing facility operations when leadership is unavailable.
- Requires flexibility to work in various hospitals and healthcare settings.
- May involve standing for long periods, responding to emergencies, and coordinating across multiple departments.
Submission Requirements
- 2 yrs Supervisory, Clinical Resource Team and/or other pertinent Leadership experience
- willingness & comfort to float to Bettendorf when needed (within minutes)
- Experience in scheduling staff, oversight of staff and oversight of patient care acting as liaison/resource when needed
- experience strongly encouraged in ALL, or EACH of the following Depts: ICU, ED, Med Surg
- IL RN License
- IA or compact RN License
- BLS certification
