Job Description: R.E.C.E.S.S Coach
(Reaching Every Child Ensuring Student Success)
The R.E.C.E.S.S. Coach plays a critical role in fostering a positive school culture and supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral development of elementary school students. Working within the S.T.O.R.M. R.E.C.E.S.S. program, the Coach provides targeted interventions and mentorship during recess, lunch periods, and other school activities, focusing on connection, engagement, and support. The Coach collaborates with school leaders, teachers, and students to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
To help students develop crucial social and emotional skills, providing personalized support to ensure their well-being and success during unstructured school time.
Student Support
- Implement individualized action plans for students identified as needing additional behavioral support, using PBIS and SEL frameworks.
- Provide calm and supportive interventions for students experiencing behavioral challenges, including mindfulness and deep breathing exercises.
- Conduct restorative coaching sessions to address conflicts and promote accountability.
- Implement preventive strategies to boost student confidence and enhance social skills.
Engagement and Connection
- Actively engage with students during recess and lunch periods, promoting kindness and inclusivity.
- Build positive relationships with all students, fostering a supportive school culture.
- Establish trust and rapport with students requiring additional support.
- Integrate SEL strategies into recess and lunchtime activities.
Collaborate and Communication
- Collaborate with school leaders and teachers to identify students needing support and develop action plans.
- Maintain consistent communication with the program's leadership team.
- Advocate for individual students and empower them to advocate for themselves and their peers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary or middle school students.
- Knowledge of PBIS and SEL frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor.
- Ability to implement behavior management strategies.
- Commitment to promoting educational equity.
- Ability to learn and implement mindfulness and restorative practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or relevant experience preferred.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
