What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Document all activities on site during duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports.
- Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
- Review construction documents and drawings to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction.
- Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments.
- Assist the Project Administrator with the review of contract submissions (critical path schedules, RFI’s etc.)
- Assist the project Administrator with staff scheduling/coordination.
- Attend progress meeting and provide feedback on ongoing construction and issues.
- Supervision of Junior inspector.
- Inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for road and bridge projects. Experience with FDOT construction and specifications desired.
- Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
- Observing general job safety practices.
- Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents.
- The ability to work as a team a plus.
- Possibility of weekend and evening work as dictated by contract.
What your experience looks like
- Experience as a Senior Inspector on Florida Department of Transportation projects in the Tampa, FL area.
- High school graduate or equivalent plus two (5) years’ experience in construction inspection, one (2) year of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, or an Engineer Intern with a Civil Engineering degree (requires certificate) having the ability to earn the required qualifications and certifications within one year, plus demonstrated knowledge in the following:
- CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
- CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)
- IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
- CTQP Final Estimates Level I
- Contract Administration (required for managing FDOT contracts)
- Contract Inspection
- Permit Inspection
- Roadway Characteristics Inventory
- Maintenance Management System
