Herpetological Collections Supervisor:
Exotics Unlimited
Monday-Friday | 40hrs/week
$15-$17/hr to start | Performance-based growth to $20 /hr
This is not an entry-level role.
We are looking for a highly-disciplined, detail-driven Herpetological Collections Supervisor who understands that consistency and precision are non-negotiable when working with sensitive species.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining animal health, environmental stability, and operational excellence. The right candidate takes ownership of their work, notices small changes before they become problems, and executes daily tasks with accuracy and intent. The Herpetological Collections Supervisor is responsible for the care of various species of tree monitors, geckos, skinks, & other arboreal lizards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Daily monitoring of reptile health, behavior, & enclosure conditions across the collection
- Early identifications & reporting of health or husbandry concerns
- Maintain strict adherence to established care and safety protocols
- Conduct routine cleaning and full enclosure maintenance
- Precise management of environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, lighting, etc.)
- Detailed and consistent record keeping
- Supporting team operations while working independently
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on animal husbandry experience
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict care and safety protocols
- Strong observational skills & attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability
- Team-oriented mindset with willingness to learn and improve
- Experience with bioactive systems or controlled environment set-ups
- Background in animal care, biology, zoology, animal science, or a related field
- Physical capability to: Lift 40lbs regularly, stand for long periods, use ladders safely, & move quickly between ground-level & standing tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working specifically with reptiles
- Experience with arboreal species (e.g., monitors, geckos, etc.)
- Degree in related field (experience weighed more heavily than education)
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay: $15-$17 per hour, based on experience and performance
- Performance-based raises, with potential to earn up to $20/hour as proficiency is demonstrated
- 5 days PTO after 6 months of full-time (40 hr/week) employment

We are one of the largest tarantula sources on the East Coast and maintain a specialized reptile collection of 200 animals across 15 species, including tree monitors, geckos, skinks, arboreal lizards, and garter snakes.
This is a private, non-public facility centered on precision husbandry, controlled environments, and high standards of care.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
