Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time Electric Propulsion Team Lead. The hired employee will be responsible for managing the Propulsion engineering team’s design, analysis, and test tasks as they relate to sub-kilowatt Hall-effect Thrusters, propellant flow control systems, and pressure management systems. This position is open to senior level candidates and requires functional management skills. This position will be responsible for small to medium sized components and will be expected to work with little supervision, solve complex problems and delegate tasks to the team.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
- Leads the Hall-effect thruster and propellant systems development team
- Conduct annual reviews, promotion recommendations, disciplinary action with HR
- Mentor and train staff, set staff member goals
- Coordinate with Program Managers and IPT Leads to determine resource needs and assign staff appropriately based on company priorities
- Technical oversight of functional area and review staff’s work for technical integrity
- Lead engineering and failure review boards on topics within functional area
- Manages the Hall thruster test facility development and utilization
- Develops Hall thruster and propellant systems verification and validation plans
- Defines the manufacturing and test plans to produce low-cost Hall thrusters
- Collaborates with other subsystem team members for the development of other Hall thruster subsystem components
Required Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
· Minimum of a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
- 7 years of related experience (including any graduate work) in the design, development, and flight of electric propulsion systems, and at least 4 years specifically related to Hall thrusters
· Domain expert in one or more areas of electric thruster development.
- Proven experience in the electric thruster development lifecycle
- An understanding of low-cost electric thruster manufacturing and acceptance testing
- Leadership or management experience and a history of mentoring
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience designing for the space environment
Desired:
- Ph.D. or equivalent industry experience in a field relevant to the development of Hall thrusters
