Certified Peer Support Specialist – Mobile Crisis Response Team Program (North Coastal San Diego)
Exodus Recovery, Inc is looking for a full-time Certified Peer Support Specialists for our Mobile Crisis Response Team located in San Diego, CA.
Program Overview:
The Mobile Crisis Response Team Program (MCRT) is an innovative new program for San Diego County. MCRT will respond to urgent/emergency (non-911) calls and provide crisis intervention for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis, and to connect them to the most appropriate level of care. These services will be provided to adults, including Transitional Age Youth (TAY) and older adult populations in the North Coastal San Diego County Region. This is a field-based program that includes transporting clients.
Job Summary:
The Certified Peer Support Specialist functions as part of the Team and is generally the first contact for the client. They are actively involved in providing direct or indirect care and supervision of the clients under the discretion of the Program Director and Lead Community Health Worker Supervisor. The Certified Peer Support Specialist uses their experience to enhance recovery efforts of clients, actively promotes understanding of clients’ points of view and preferences, and fulfills duties related to outreach, client support, care manager assistance, rehabilitation, and collateral interactions with natural supports. Qualifications/Education:
- Two years’ experience working with individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) and/or substance abuse issues preferred and two years’ experience working with program specific populations preferred.
- A stable history of recovery (mental health and substance abuse) as applicable. Extensive personal, family and/or professional knowledge of challenges of developing and maintaining a recovery focused lifestyle. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Certification as a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist in California is needed upon hire and maintained throughout employment. Must have completed first aid and CPR training or obtain certification within four (4) weeks of hire.
- Valid CA driver’s license and good driving record with 3 years of experience is required. Must be 21 years old or older to drive.
