Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Driller for our telecommunications division to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating drilling equipment and ensuring that drilling operations are conducted safely and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and adherence to safety regulations. The Driller will work primarily on construction sites and may be involved in fiber optic projects, requiring the ability to operate various types of machinery including excavators, vactrons, etc.
Duties
- Operate drilling rigs and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections on drilling equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Monitor drilling parameters and make adjustments as necessary during operations.
- Collaborate with crew members to ensure effective communication and teamwork on site.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards at all times.
- Perform routine maintenance on drilling equipment to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the transportation of materials and equipment to and from the construction site using commercial driving skills when necessary.
- Document daily operations, including any issues encountered during drilling activities.
- Experience:
- 2 years on the drill ( rock drilling capability)
- Knowledge of Ditch Witch Drill Rig (JT20 Preferred)
- Know how to operate heavy equipment (excavator)
- Knowledge of mixing mud
- Knowledge of locating system a plus (Digi Track)
- Driving requirements:
- CDL: Class A (not required but preferred)
- General requirements
- Tanker
- Combination
- Air brakes and Standard (not required but a plus)
- Must have clean MVR report
- Physical Fitness:
- must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Stand for long periods
- Must be able to work outdoors and Varying weather conditions
- Basic requirements:
- Must be able to travel and stay out of town as needed
- Be able to pass basic safety course (trench, excavating, confined space)
