This position will also include the opportunity for service call roadside with a commission based system. The job will be some shop work and travel to other sites will be needed as well.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components using schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Conduct repairs on construction machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy-duty industrial equipment with precision and attention to detail.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair needs.
- Maintain and service vehicle systems including brake repair, wheel alignment, tire service, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), and engine repairs to ensure safety and compliance.
- Utilize electrical diagnostics tools for troubleshooting electrical issues in heavy equipment and automotive systems; perform electrical repairs as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and scheduled inspections to prevent future breakdowns.
- Assist with heavy lifting operations safely while handling large parts or equipment; operate heavy machinery when required for repairs or servicing.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine diagnostics.
- Strong knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with schematics for electrical systems.
- Familiarity with OEM parts replacement procedures for Caterpillar, John Deere, Cummins or similar brands.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; excellent mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems and HVAC systems.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts or tractor-trailers is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.
