Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Warehouse General Manager to lead and optimize our distribution center operations. Duties
- Lead the overall management of warehouse operations, including shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, inventory management, and distribution activities.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Oversee transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and data integrity.
- Manage procurement, purchasing, and freight activities, including freight forwarding (NVOCC), 3PL providers, and fleet management to optimize transportation costs and delivery schedules.
- Supervise warehouse staff and supervisors, providing guidance on safety protocols, performance standards, and operational procedures.
- Coordinate demand planning, production planning, and inventory control to meet customer service levels while minimizing excess stock.
- Monitor budget performance through profit & loss analysis; identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all warehouse functions by analyzing supply chain analytics and implementing best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, warehouse policies, and industry standards; conduct regular audits and safety training sessions.
- Utilize ERP systems such as AS400 or similar platforms for inventory tracking, order processing, and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including procurement, logistics, sales, and customer service to streamline supply chain operations.
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes ensuring accuracy in dispatching goods via freight carriers or internal distribution channels.
- Manage warehouse distribution activities ensuring timely order fulfillment through effective dispatching strategies.
- Implement warehouse layout optimizations to improve workflow efficiency; oversee forklift operations and materials handling equipment maintenance.
- Analyze supply chain data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies; develop strategies for process enhancement aligned with lean principles.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision or operations management within a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management principles including inventory control, demand planning, procurement, and logistics coordination.
- Extensive knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms like AS400 or equivalent systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and supply chain analytics tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively with supervising experience in a warehouse setting; excellent communication skills are essential.
- Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers and freight forwarding companies such as NVOCC operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in budgeting, cost analysis (profit & loss), process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Continuous Improvement frameworks.
- Familiarity with transportation planning, fleet management—including dispatching—and materials handling equipment like forklifts.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets related to supply chain performance for decision-making purposes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
