Position Summary
The Upstream Operations Data Analyst will be a key contributor in managing and analyzing drilling and completion data to support optimization and performance improvement across the organization. This individual will serve as a key link between field operations, engineering, and leadership by transforming raw operational data into meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and visualization skills, a proactive mindset with a passion for improving workflows and data integrity, and a general understanding of upstream oil and gas operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, Maintain, and enhance datasets, dashboards, and reporting tools that support daily drilling and completion performance tracking
Aggregate and validate large volumes of operational data from multiple internal and third-party systems to ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility
Create visualizations and performance dashboards in Power BI, Spotfire, and Excel to communicate key metrics to technical and leadership teams
Facilitate generation of cost estimates and maintain ongoing progress tracking for project budgets and schedules
Conduct analytical deep dives into drilling, completion, and production datasets to identify performance trends, cost drivers, and efficiency opportunities
Support engineering and operations teams by providing workflow automation solutions
Collaborate with IT, engineers, and operations personnel to standardize data collection, nomenclature, and reporting processes
Maintain and evolve master data structures for drilling and completions
Assist in developing and implementing data governance best practices to ensure consistent, reliable data across platforms
Contribute to ongoing digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing visibility, automation, and decision support
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Petroleum Technology, or a related field (preferred)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Spotfire for data analysis and visualization. Familiarity with Microsoft Project also preferred
Experience with SQL, Python, or similar tools for data querying, transforming, or automation
Demonstrated ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights
Passion for contributing to collaborating and working with teams to innovate, develop, and continuously develop and improve systems and processes
Ability to travel monthly with occasional overnight stay required
Prior experience in upstream oil & gas, preferably with exposure to drilling, completions, or production operations
Understanding of upstream operational data flows (daily drilling reports, completion reports, cost tracking, time/depth data, etc.)
Familiarity with data warehouse environments and API-based data integration
Background in supporting multi-rig, multi-pad, or multi-fleet operations with analytics and reporting solutions
