With Robloxs daily active users growing at a record pace, we are seeking a senior data engineer to join the Ads Platform team in building the next generation of Ad Data and ML feature infrastructure. Our team sits at the core of advertising systems at Roblox, powering high-scale, high-throughput data systems that shape ads personalization, ranking, and measurement.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Ads Platform team, you will architect and build foundational data pipelines, real-time streaming systems, and scalable feature computation frameworks. Your work will enable rapid experimentation, empower ranking models, and support personalized ad delivery at massive scale. You will collaborate closely with engineers across ML, backend, and analytics to shape the future of ads infrastructure at Roblox.

This position will report to our Senior Engineering Manager and require you to work onsite at our HQ in San Mateo, CA Tuesdays to Thursdays.

You Will

• Build high-performance data pipelines and real-time streaming systems that support both online and offline ML features, training data and statistical computation at scale.
• Design and scale robust data infrastructure for powering retrieval and ranking of various ads systems across Roblox
• Ensure data systems are reliable, observable, privacy-compliant, and performant under heavy concurrency and high throughput.
• Partner with ML and backend engineers to define scalable interfaces and enable rapid iteration for model development and experimentation.
• Contribute to internal platforms and tools that abstract complexity, improve developer productivity, and accelerate innovation.
• Be a tech lead and mentor junior engineers
• Self-organize and take ownership of projects throughout their full lifecycle.
  
  

You Have

• 3 years of experience in software development
• 2 years of experience building data pipelines, infrastructure, and working with big data technologies like Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow, and Hive
• Proficiency in one or more languages such as C#, Go, Java, Python, SQL.
• Knowledge about advertising and the technology which powers it is preferred

The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range$192,890$238,520 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
