Senior Software Engineer - Mobile

Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin Innovation Technical Center or GM Global Technical Center or Sunnyvale Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

As a Mobile Senior Software Engineer, your focus will be on creating cutting-edge mobile applications that provide an exceptional user experience. You will be responsible for the entire app development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment and ongoing maintenance. Your role will involve working closely with UI/UX designers, product managers, and software engineers to transform concepts into functional, visually appealing, and performant mobile apps. Your expertise in mobile development frameworks and platforms will be instrumental in crafting user-friendly and feature-rich applications for various mobile devices.

What Youll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain cross-platform mobile applications usingReact Native, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Partner closely withCX designersandProduct Managersto deliver intuitive, visually engaging user interfaces that enhance customer experience.
• Implementunit and UI teststo proactively detect and resolve application issues.
• Optimize application performance by minimizingrendering timeandmemory usage, ensuring smooth user interactions.
• Drive full lifecycle application development, leveragingindustry-standard design patternsand frameworks.
• Integrateautomated testingand continuous deployment through robustCI/CD pipelines.
• Build and maintainbackend APIsusingPython, supporting seamless data flow and business logic.
• Actively identify and remediate software issues, includingcode quality,design inconsistencies, andsecurity vulnerabilities.
• Create and maintain comprehensivetechnical documentationin alignment withGM standards.
• Ensure ongoing compliance withGM policiesandindustry best practicesthroughout the development process.
• Demonstrate accountability and foster a culture of excellence by embodyingGMs values and cultural behaviors.
• Lead by example, modelingGM leadership behaviorsand contributing to awinning team culture.
• Serve as atechnical leader, mentoring team members and guiding development efforts toward strategic goals.
  
  

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 6 years of experience in software development, including 3 years in mobile application development
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
• Proficient in React, React Native, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, and Python
• Familiarity with native development tools such as Android Studio, IntelliJ, and Xcode
• Working knowledge of Swift and Kotlin for native development
• Experience with build pipelines, CI/CD automation, and deployment workflows
• Strong understanding of software testing, quality assurance, and automated testing practices
• Proven ability to maintain and debug live software applications in production environments

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 8 years of experience in software development, including 4 years in mobile application development
• 3 years of hands-on experience with React Native
• Backend development experience using Python
  
  

Compensation:The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

• The salary range for this role:is$134,000 to 205,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
• Bonus Potential:An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
