Job Description
- Evaluate and recommend network architecture solutions based on performance, stability, availability, cost-efficiency, and development requirements needed to support new applications and the users in 9-1-1 call taking and dispatch environment.
- Work with vendor(s) and project manager(s) to develop, review, and update network architecture standards related to the overall system architecture.
- Collaborate with and advise colleagues on policies and procedures, and best practices for network infrastructure.
- Develop and coordinate system lifecycle management with IT Services including developing or reviewing asset configuration and security for network system.
- Manage the implementation and execution of the requirements management process, including elicitation and verification.
- At least 12 years of hands-on experience at senior level as an audio/telephony systems SME.
- Extensive experience in the following technology areas: Public Safety systems, Quality Assurance, Systems Design, Development, Integration and Testing
- Minimum 12 years of experience in a particular technical and/or business application, product, platform, methodology.
- Topology Design: Ability to design network topologies based on organizational requirements.
- Scalability Planning: Designing networks that can scale with organizational growth.
- Routing Protocols: Proficiency in protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Switching Protocols: Knowledge of VLANs, STP, and other switching technologies.
- Understanding of TCP/IP: In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite.
- Subnetting and IP Addressing: Ability to design and implement IP addressing
- Diagnostic Tools: Utilizing tools like ping, traceroute, and network analyzers.
- Problem Resolution: Efficiently identifying and resolving network issues.
- Ethernet, VLANs, and STP: Deep understanding of Ethernet technologies.
- IPv6 Implementation: Knowledge of IPv6 and its implementation.
- Network Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive network documentation.
- Report Generation: Creating reports on network performance and incidents.
- Client Communication: Communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Learning Agility: Willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies.
