About Green Acres Nursery & Supply
Green Acres Nursery & Supply is a family-owned, high-volume retail business with multiple locations across Northern California and Texas. While the company is known for its strong garden center foundation, it also operates a rapidly growing Outdoor Living retail business within its stores.
This role is specifically focused on leading and expanding the Outdoor Living category.
About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Merchandising – Outdoor Living to lead and grow our Outdoor Living business across all store locations.
This is a newly created, high-impact leadership role with full ownership of the Outdoor Living category, including patio furniture, grills, fire pits, umbrellas, and accessories.
This position is not responsible for nursery or plant merchandising. It is fully dedicated to building, scaling, and optimizing the Outdoor Living retail business within our stores.
You will lead all aspects of the Outdoor Living category, including strategy, vendor partnerships, assortment, pricing, and financial performance, while maintaining close alignment with the Executive Vice President and company ownership.

Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute the merchandising strategy for the Outdoor Living category
- Drive sales growth, margin expansion, and inventory productivity
- Source products, build assortments, and develop pricing strategies
- Establish and manage vendor relationships, including negotiations and terms
- Partner with operations, marketing, and finance to support category growth
- Lead visual merchandising and in-store presentation standards
- Analyze performance, trends, and competitive landscape to inform decisions
- Maintain consistent in-store presence to ensure execution across locations
- Act as a change agent to elevate and scale the category
- Attend trade shows and industry events to identify new products and trends
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in retail merchandising or category management
- Strong background in outdoor living, furniture, or related product categories
- Proven track record of driving sales, margin, and category growth
- Experience in vendor negotiations, assortment planning, and retail analytics
- Experience in multi-location retail environments preferred
- Ability to lead at both a strategic and hands-on level
- Strong business acumen, communication, and collaboration skills
- Eye for product, design, and customer experience
Preferred Background
- Experience in premium or design-driven furniture, home, or outdoor living retail environments
- Strong understanding of merchandising high-ticket, style-oriented product categories
- Experience balancing trend, quality, and margin within a curated assortment
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $140,000 – $220,000 bonus potential
