Summary

The applicant will take on the role of Policy Assistant for the Office of Science and Technology. This position is a Detail assignment and not a promotion. Candidates must currently hold the grade level specified in the announcement. Clarification from the agency

Open to all current federal employees at their current grade (GS09 or GS11 or equivalent level). Detail opportunity is non-reimbursable for 120 days or greater. Supervisory approval is required.

Duties

This is a Non-Reimbursable Detail Opportunity for 6 or greater months. If selected your management and branch must concur with the non-reimbursable detail. A MOU will be signed between your branch and the agency. RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID.

As a Policy Assistant GS-0301-09 or 11 your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting OSTP Leadership Team in daily tasks, including calendar management and travel coordination
  • Arranging meetings with stakeholders and preparing meeting materials
  • Managing frequent and routine correspondence
  • Assisting OSTP team members with tracking priorities, tasks, and requests
  • Performing technical policy research
  • Drafting policy memoranda on science and technology policy topics
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.

GRADE REQUIREMENT: This is NOT a promotion. Applicant MUST currently be at the grade level advertised.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience are: writing policy documents, preparing materials for senior leadership and researching related information as it pertains to:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Broadband and Spectrum
  • Digital Assets
  • Increasing Technologists in Government

  • Prioritize between multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively through verbal and written means
