Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of chimneys, flues, and fireplaces to identify blockages, creosote buildup, or structural issues
- Perform safe and thorough cleaning procedures using industry-standard tools and techniques to remove soot, ash, and debris
- Identify potential hazards such as cracks, leaks, or obstructions and recommend appropriate repairs or maintenance solutions
- Install, repair, or upgrade fireplace components including chimneys, venting systems, dampers, and caps
- Educate customers on proper fireplace operation, maintenance routines, and safety precautions to prevent fire hazards
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, cleaning procedures, repairs performed, and parts used for each job
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all work activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience in chimney sweeping or fireplace installation and maintenance is highly preferred
- Knowledge of chimney and venting system components, materials, and safety standards
- Ability to operate specialized cleaning tools such as rotary brushes, vacuums, and inspection cameras effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality workmanship
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical information clearly to clients
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel locally for service calls
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions including climbing ladders and working at heights
