Job Description
The position will require becoming comfortable in all aspects of the operation of the office:
1) Optical sales - assisting patients with eyewear selection in conjunction with vision plans (VSP / EyeMed)
2) Appointment scheduling vision & medical insurance eligibility checking and claims reconciliationÂ
3) Pretesting patients (auto-refractor, non-contact tonometry, auto-lensometry)
4) Running advanced instrumentation: Humphrey visual field, retinal photography, iVue OCT and other instrumentation
5) Training patients on the proper use and care of contact lenses
6) General clerical duties & use of electronic medical records (Crystal PM)
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience REQUIRED
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good listener, critical thinker, creative problem solving
- Outstanding communication skills
- Computer literate, ability to type at least 50 words per minute
- Must excel in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Reliable, hard working, enthusiastic, team player
- Confident, self-starter
- With excellent references and proven work history
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, and/reach overhead
- Love for eye care, prior experience necessary
- Bachelor's degree a plus
Additional Information
32 hours/week (Tuesday-Friday) with no weekends and no evenings. Prior eye care experience REQUIRED.
