GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  FLSA:  Hourly  

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students.  Provide support and service to students under the supervision of a speech language pathologist. 

 

MAJOR TASKS: 

  • Conducts speech and language screenings, providing results upon consultation with SLP supervisor
  • Prepares initial, annual and transition IEPs, with corresponding paperwork, given a menu of possible goals/objectives from diagnostic reports, clinical observations and professional judgments/input supplied by SLP supervisor.
  • Presents initial, annual and transition IEPs reviewed by SLP supervisor at IEP team meetings.
  • Determines treatment and implements methods appropriate to student’s disorder for which the assistant has received training and with input from SLP supervisor.
  • Prepares and implements materials and activities appropriate to IEP goals, student’s needs, and treatment setting.
  • Plans lessons and strategies to integrate communication goals into student’s daily routine with team members as needed.
  • Collects and maintains data, documentation of contact and files
  • Provides home suggestions/programs pertinent to student from approved/reviewed sources by SLP supervisor.
  • Participates in parent-teacher/team conferences and provides on-going progress updates to team with SLP supervisor support.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A communication disorder or speech-language pathology baccalaureate degree from an accredited university OR an associate degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited university or community college.

  • No fewer than 100 supervised clinical practicum hours with ages 3-22 years.
