Job Summary
The Excavation Laborer assists with site preparation, digging, trenching, grading, and general construction tasks on excavation projects. This role supports equipment operators and supervisors by performing manual labor, maintaining job site safety, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with digging trenches, grading, and site preparation for construction projects.
- Work alongside equipment operators to support excavation, backfilling, and material movement.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
- Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, jackhammers, and compactors.
- Install or assist with drainage systems, pipes, and utility lines as directed.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Assist with measuring, marking, and leveling ground surfaces.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Direct traffic or assist with spotting for equipment operators when needed.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditions.
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly.
- Basic understanding of construction tools and equipment preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to job sites.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous construction or excavation experience.
- Knowledge of trenching safety and underground utilities.
- Experience working around heavy equipment.
Work Environment
- Outdoor job sites in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
- Work may require early mornings, long hours, or overtime.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting for extended periods.
- Ability to work on uneven terrain and in trenches.
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
