Qualifications
- Master’s degree in educational psychology, psychology, social work, counseling, or education
- Training and experience in behavior management and positive behavioral interventions, preferably within an educational setting

Job Goal
To conduct functional behavioral assessments and plan appropriate interventions for special education students who have behavioral difficulties.
Essential Functions
- Conducts functional behavioral assessments in a concise and timely manner.
- Observes and documents the behavior of students (in writing) in a variety of settings to assist in determining the function of the inappropriate behavior.
- Interviews teachers, parents, and/or staff members to identify the problem behavior and the function it serves.
- Collects and reviews all relevant student records and data to develop the most appropriate positive interventions in the least restrictive environment.
- Consults with teachers, parents, and other staff members to design and implement effective, positive, behavioral interventions.
- Designs effective, appropriate, positive behavioral interventions (in writing) based on the individual needs of students.
- Provides verbal communication to teachers, parents, and staff regarding the implementation and documentation of the behavioral interventions.
- Participates in IEP meetings to revise IEPs to reflect the behavioral interventions as a result of the functional behavioral assessment.
- Makes follow-up visits to the classrooms where interventions are being implemented to determine effectiveness of interventions (by observing students, consulting with teachers, reviewing documentation) and to revise them as needed.
- Maintains sufficient documentation of records on individual students for follow-up services.
- Provides staff development activities and training to teachers, parents, and/or staff members in behavior management techniques in general, and specifically as they relate to individual students.
- Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
