Medical Assistant (Will Train)

Responsibilities

• Obtains current and accurate patient information, including medical history, allergies, and other information required by the physician.
• Obtains and records vital signs accurately, including temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and blood pressure. Maintains growth charts for pediatric patients and reviews current problems, signs, and symptoms with patients.
• Documents patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and assists with scanning medical records.
• Maintains accurate records of assigned and vacant exam rooms. Rooms patients efficiently and accurately and performs proper admission and dismissal procedures.
• Maintains a high degree of confidentiality regarding patient information, medical staff, and office matters.
• Provides detailed discharge instructions and schedules follow-up appointments as directed.
• Assists with minor office surgical procedures, Pap smears, and other clinical procedures as needed.
• Maintains working knowledge of office routines, protocols, and standing orders.
• Assists with scheduling procedures, testing, and surgeries with outside agencies as directed.
• Assists with insurance authorizations and certifications for surgeries and procedures as needed.
• Communicates prescription information to pharmacies according to office policy.
• Maintains inventory of drug samples and medical supplies and ensures outdated medications and supplies are removed according to policy in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a physician office setting preferred.
• Medical terminology background preferred.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or related medical field preferred.
• Candidates with previous experience in the medical field are strongly encouraged to apply.
• On-the-job training for medical assistant role available for qualified candidates.
