Responsibilities
- Assist the Director and Associate Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and overseeing the Nursing Department’s daily functions.
- Supervise nursing personnel to ensure all staff follow established duties and standards of care.
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections as requested.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update residents’ care plans.
- Conduct LPN and CNA evaluations; provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Participate in staffing decisions, including hiring, probation, and termination processes.
- Maintain communication with physicians, families, and nursing administration regarding resident needs and updates.
- Ensure adequate nursing coverage for all shifts to maintain quality care.
- Make daily rounds to ensure performance and compliance with nursing standards.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Monitor medication passes, treatments, and clinical documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
- Complete required assessments (MDS) and ensure documentation compliance.
- Review lab work, investigate incidents, and ensure resident safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with Social Services on discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Current, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Proficiency with SigmaCare or similar electronic health record systems.
- Ability to make sound clinical and administrative decisions independently.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Prior nursing home management experience strongly preferred.
