The Well Site Logging Geologist is responsible for monitoring and analyzing drilling operations in real-time. They collect, analyze, and interpret geological data to provide drilling engineers with critical information that helps them make informed decisions about drilling operations. This is a highly specialized position that requires a deep understanding of geology, drilling operations, and safety protocols.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collect and analyze geological data during drilling operations, including lithology, hydrocarbon shows, and gas levels.
  • Monitor drilling parameters such as drilling rate, mud flow rate, and wellbore pressure.
  • Ensure that drilling operations remain within established parameters and alert drilling engineers of any potential issues.
  • Use specialized software to log, process, and interpret data.
  • Create accurate and detailed reports on a regular basis, including well logs, mud logs, and sample descriptions.
  • Collaborate with drilling engineers to make informed decisions about drilling operations based on geological data.
  • Analyze well data to provide information on reservoir characteristics, such as porosity, permeability, and hydrocarbon saturation.
  • Work closely with the drilling team to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Attend meetings with clients and provide updates on drilling progress and geological data.
  • Follow all safety procedures and ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field.
  • Experience in well-site geology, mud logging, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with specialized software used for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • A willingness to work long hours and spend extended periods of time away from home.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check, and have a valid US driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, and ladders, and work at heights.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
